Freedom's Price

Over the years, many people have paid a high price for the freedom we have here in America. We often overlook the sacrifices our soldiers and their families make today to help keep our country safe. Yet, they continue to sacrifice, and we continue to enjoy safety in the United States of America. There are two versions of this song, solo and duet. The solo version appears on the "Feed the Children" album, and the duet version is featured as the title song on the "Freedom's Price" album.

A duet version of this song is also available and can be accessed by clicking here.

Lyrics
Freedom's Price
A father holds his infant son while tears well in his eyes.
The baby coos and smiles at him, not knowing it's goodbye.
He turns toward his loving wife to kiss her tenderly.
He doesn't really want to go, to leave his family.

But the voice of duty calls him. With honor he must go
To fight a war against tyranny that others may know
The joyous feel of freedom, though freedom's price is high.
Freedom is the cause for which he goes to risk his life.

She watches as he holds their son while tears well in her eyes.
She thinks of empty days ahead and knows this is goodbye.
She meets his eyes and bravely smiles while crying deep inside.
She doesn't want this man to go away far from her side.

But the voice of duty calls him, and she must let him go
To fight a war against tyranny that others may know
The joyous feel of freedom, though freedom's price is high.
Freedom is the cause for which she lets him risk his life.

He has so much to leave behind. He'll miss his son's first year.
She takes the baby from his arms and wipes away a tear.
Although his heart is breaking now, he goes off willingly,
And while she hates to see him go, she's proud as she can be,

For the voice of duty calls him. With honor he will go
To fight a war against tyranny that others may know
The joyous feel of freedom, though freedom's price is high.
Freedom is the cause for which he goes to risk his life.
Freedom sometimes means a man must go and risk his life.
