"Music to inspire and nourish the soul."

When You Dance

"When You Dance" is a lighthearted song that was written during a few days of extreme soreness of body following an "overdo" of exercise. After all, humor does lighten the loads we carry and make them easier to bear, right?

Lyrics
When You Dance
My daddy had an old expression:
"When you dance, you must pay the fiddler's fee."
But I thought not much about it.
I always danced for free.
But then today dawned understanding
Of those words my father often said,
For last night I went a-jogging
And now the fiddler must be paid.

"When you dance, you pay the fiddler."
I never understood that phrase.
Last night I danced, today I'm paying.
Now, I don't understand the fitness craze.

My husband said I'd feel much better
With more pep, less stomach, hips, and thighs
If I'd vow to give my body
Consistent exercise.
First, jumping jacks, pushups, and situps,
Then I ran until I thought I'd die.
Now I ache from top to bottom
Because the fiddler's fee is high!

"When you dance, you pay the fiddler."
I never understood that phrase.
Last night I danced, today I'm paying.
Now, I don't understand the fitness craze.
