"Music to inspire and nourish the soul."

Coming Home

"Coming Home" was written shortly after we made the decision to move from the metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona area back to rural Idaho. The song expresses all the things I loved and had missed about living in Idaho.

Lyrics
Coming Home
Getting away from the city and crowds;
Getting away from the heat;
Far from the concrete and buildings tall;
Far from the noise of the street.
Yes, I'm coming back home where the summers are warm;
Back where the winters have snow;
Back to my friends and my family,
Back home to my Idaho.

My dreams are torn and tattered;
My plans have gone astray;
But now it doesn't matter
'Cause I'm not down to stay.
When I came to the city,
I thought I'd do all right.
Now I know the place for me,
The country where I long to be
Is where the stars and moon shine bright at night!

Getting away from the city and crowds;
Getting away from the heat;
Far from the concrete and buildings tall;
Far from the noise of the street.
Yes, I'm coming back home where the summers are warm;
Back where the winters have snow;
Back to my friends and my family,
Back home to my Idaho.

I came with plans so fancy.
I thought it would be grand,
But now I'm feeling antsy
To get back to the land.
When I came to the city,
I thought I'd be a queen.
Now the only royalty
That I will ever long to see
Is Queen Anne's lace against a hill of green!

The freeways seemed romantic
When I first came this way.
Now traffic makes me frantic!
I'm coming home to stay.
When I came to the city,
I thought I'd never miss
Quiet nights and peaceful days,
The gentle warmth of sunshine rays,
But now a taste of these would bring me bliss!

Getting away from the city and crowds;
Getting away from the heat;
Far from the concrete and buildings tall;
Far from the noise of the street.
Yes, I'm coming back home where the summers are warm;
Back where the winters have snow;
Back to my friends and my family,
Back home to my Idaho.
Back home to my Idaho.
